Hey There

Hi, I’m Mackenzie — a mom, baker, and the heart behind Loaf and Loom.

My journey into baking started in my own kitchen, with a jar of sourdough starter and a desire to make something wholesome for my family. What began as a way to nourish my kids with real, homemade bread quickly grew into a passion for the slow, simple art of sourdough. I fell in love with the process — the patience, the creativity, and the joy of pulling a warm loaf from the oven.

Baking sourdough is a rewarding process that begins with creating a sourdough starter, a mixture of flour and water that ferments over time. Once your starter is bubbly and active, mix with flour, water, and salt to form the dough. Allow dough to rise and develop flavor through bulk fermentation, then shape it and let it rise again. Finally, bake your sourdough in a preheated oven for a crusty, golden loaf that’s perfect for any occasion!

About Me

At first, I baked just for my family. I loved knowing exactly what went into our food, keeping it wholesome and nourishing. But as I shared loaves with friends and neighbors, I realized that bread has a way of connecting people. A warm sourdough loaf on the table isn’t just food—it’s a gathering place, a comfort, a reminder of slower times when life was shared around the kitchen.

Motherhood has shaped the way I bake. It’s taught me patience, care, and the art of finding joy in small things. Just like raising children, sourdough requires attention, nurturing, and trust in the process. Every loaf is handmade with that same spirit, using simple ingredients and traditional methods to create something both rustic and special.

This bakery is my way of extending that love beyond my own kitchen. I want each loaf you bring home to feel personal—as if it were made just for your table. From the classic sourdough that pairs with everything, to fun seasonal flavors that bring a little surprise, I pour my heart into every bake.

When you choose bread from my bakery, you’re not just supporting a small business—you’re sharing in a story of family, tradition, and the belief that food made with care simply tastes better. My hope is that every bite brings warmth, comfort, and a sense of home.

Thank you for letting me share my bread, and a piece of my journey, with you.
